Hooray!!! Finally the time has come for Reagan to choose which language she studies. And not a moment too soon.
In my career day speech, I emphasized how important knowing (some) Spanish has helped me. I've been using my Spanish since I graduated college, first in California and now to communicate with our plant employees, not to mention to get around Puerto Rico. It is a big deal to me.
So when Reagan brought home this permission slip to authorize a change, I was thrilled. Melissa took pains to insure I wasn't pressuring Reagan to change. I told her I would pressure if need be, but I believe Reagan wants to change. I have not problem pulling parental rank on this issue, Frenchies are not taking over the world. Spanish on the other hand, may.
So, I am thrilled. That may mean that Melissa and my "secret language" - the language we speak in front of kids when we don't want them knowing what we are talking about might lose some effectiveness, but for the betterment of the child, I am OK with that.
Plus, swear words are so much better in Spanish.
