What your ringtone says about you...Part 1

I am sure I will get shellacked for this, but I will now make broad sweeping generalizations based on the ringtone of your mobile (pronounced moebyle for you non Euro folks).

  • Stock ringtone - This is the one the folks in Korea, Vietnam, China or wherever some underpaid slacker put your phone together said, "Ah silly Americans love this". Shows a total lack of effort on your part; says, "I cannot/wish not to figure out the meniacle operating system of my phone. I wish to be faceless nameless and I want to be one of those folks who hears the common ringtone in a crowded place where 50 people check their phone..."
  • Stock choices Tone. You made an effort, but that is where it ends. Says you are cheap and not very imaginative. You are happy with just 10 options including favs like Beep-Beep; bells and the international hit: Chimes. You can do better.
  • Purchased Music- No matter what you pick it sounds like static. Too loud, too low definition, too lame. Sorry. Pimps have hip hop, aging jocks have AC/DC, too many Moms have modern pop songs. Still sounds like static.
  • Your own ringtone. Yep, you can make your own. Shows way too much free time on your hands. Shows you are way too snobby about music/sounds. Taking it a bit too personally, methinks.
  • I think that is all the choices, but if I left you out somehow, here is my critique of that: You are so far out of the mainstream that I, the ever-present guru of current fads and fashion don't know about it. it makes you a geek or loser. Sorry.
Ok, so everyone I know is in there somewhere. Don't get mad at me, I mean after all, lets say you are in a crowded elevator and "Its' Raining Men" starts playing. You sure are going to look at that stranger. If it is a chick, you are thinking yeah! If it is a dude you are thinking, "is he looking at me? Do I like that?"

We all reach these conclusions on our own. A ringtone is perceived by some as a window to your soul.

Is "who let the dogs out" really who you are?

Oh, my ringtone? I made my own from Midnight Oils "Blue Sky Mine" live, just the piano intro... Yeah I know.

Oh, so you changed your ringtone ... Didn't it used to be "Dancing Queen" by ABBA?

todays survey

Since you all have done so well with the past two surveys I've taken ( another shirt slogan for Dad and do you get full eating salad or just bored ), here is another: If you eat, say, a bag full of fortune cookies - and I am not saying I have - do they all come true or just a first/last rule? Do they all negate if you eat more than one? Anyone? Bueller?

And now we are One!!!!

Who would have thought: you would keep reading after day 3? I would keep writing after day 2? (see http://robertwmason.blogspot.com/ for reference) that you would get anything out of this? that I would get anything out of this? that I would make 250 posts into this thing..? And "get" I did. Last month, I signed my first contract for a writing position (in my free time) with a Rhode Island magazine. I used many excerpts from my blog as samples and they dug it, enough to want to pay me. I am very excited about that. A big thank you to all of you that keep reading that misadventures of my family, friends and I. The journey thus far has been fun and giving you a bird-eye view into our lives is weirdly fun. At first it was like walking around naked, now I am a full fledged nudist; so to speak. In looking back over the first year, I live like a king. Sometimes all it takes is a bit of reflection to see how good you've got it. Usually this hits me on business trips and ...

How I'll probably die

My new thing has gotten me running, yes running, the past week without complaint and without watching the clock. Unfortunately, the high-risk fringe sport will probably have Ian find me at the end of the treadmill runway, twisted, with a guitar slung from my neck. What is it you ask? Some kind of Mariachi Marathon? Close. Running while playing Guitar Hero is the greatest thing since running with my buddy Jeff. Come to think of it, that really was just running with someone calling you, "fatty" the whole time, but I digress. Running while jamming on guitar trying desperately to keep up with great hits like "American Women" and the surprisingly fitting, "Band on the run". See what I did there? Anyhow, it is freaking amazing. No longer are my eyes glued to the maddening clock. No longer am looking at data (which I seem to hate when it is counting my exercise), I am playing a game. I am a Rock God when I run. Now, I know what you are thinking. Being a...
