News on Tues - It just sounds better

After some technical difficuties thanks to MS and HP, we are back on track here at Melon HQ. Seems IE7 caused some issues with my scanner software and knocked me down a day. Ah technology...

First things first, consideration must be given in light of the fact that Dad denies smoking around Ian. Ian does have a great imagination, but contrary to the current line of thought, he was not coerced. This isn't Guantanamo, he wasn't water boarded or anything else. Though like his Dad, Ian will fire for effect. So if in fact there was a disconnect with Ian and the truth, Dad should not be shunned...at least for that reason.

In other news Dad turns 61 soon and we celebrated his birthday with a family dinner on Sat. Of course, with his advanced age, he may have just pain forgot he smoked in front of Ian... Happy Birthday Dad.

Reagan decided to hang up her softball bat and glove this year in favor of trying lacrosse. Lacrosse was big in my family, with me (show left circa 1989, attack) and my brother Rob (defense).

I am excited for her and for me as I get a new stick (my last one broke some time ago...) to help her practice. Should be a hoot.

Kids are swimming and doing well. Reagan's piano is going amazingly well, she is sounding like she knows what she is doing. A cd will be cut shortly...

Mel is well, busy but in control. She calls me this morning about politics of all things. Mel is not a politico. She doesn't like to debate politics much less anything else. She just doesn't think it will get better so it pointless to argue.

But today she was mad that Bush likes to pretend he is an idiot when it suits him (case in point: using democrat/democratic interchangeably). Mel's point was, he went to Yale and was a successful governor, he should be allowed to hide behind stuff and lie. I thought it was funny that this is the lie she decides to get mad over...

It is cold here, not expected to get much above freezing all week. Still no snow. In Vanautu, it is a nice 84 degrees and sunny. The language of bislama is spoken there, a mix of phonetic English with some French and Spanish thrown in for good measure.

Man would I love to be on a beach right now with an umbrella drink in my hand...

todays survey

Since you all have done so well with the past two surveys I've taken ( another shirt slogan for Dad and do you get full eating salad or just bored ), here is another: If you eat, say, a bag full of fortune cookies - and I am not saying I have - do they all come true or just a first/last rule? Do they all negate if you eat more than one? Anyone? Bueller?

And now we are One!!!!

Who would have thought: you would keep reading after day 3? I would keep writing after day 2? (see http://robertwmason.blogspot.com/ for reference) that you would get anything out of this? that I would get anything out of this? that I would make 250 posts into this thing..? And "get" I did. Last month, I signed my first contract for a writing position (in my free time) with a Rhode Island magazine. I used many excerpts from my blog as samples and they dug it, enough to want to pay me. I am very excited about that. A big thank you to all of you that keep reading that misadventures of my family, friends and I. The journey thus far has been fun and giving you a bird-eye view into our lives is weirdly fun. At first it was like walking around naked, now I am a full fledged nudist; so to speak. In looking back over the first year, I live like a king. Sometimes all it takes is a bit of reflection to see how good you've got it. Usually this hits me on business trips and ...

How I'll probably die

My new thing has gotten me running, yes running, the past week without complaint and without watching the clock. Unfortunately, the high-risk fringe sport will probably have Ian find me at the end of the treadmill runway, twisted, with a guitar slung from my neck. What is it you ask? Some kind of Mariachi Marathon? Close. Running while playing Guitar Hero is the greatest thing since running with my buddy Jeff. Come to think of it, that really was just running with someone calling you, "fatty" the whole time, but I digress. Running while jamming on guitar trying desperately to keep up with great hits like "American Women" and the surprisingly fitting, "Band on the run". See what I did there? Anyhow, it is freaking amazing. No longer are my eyes glued to the maddening clock. No longer am looking at data (which I seem to hate when it is counting my exercise), I am playing a game. I am a Rock God when I run. Now, I know what you are thinking. Being a...
