What did I give to my Valentine? A lame Mix Tape.Oh yeah, as I continue my downward spiral of coolness into what is known as parenthood and grownupishness, I celebrated Valentines day yesterday against Mel's wishes.
I made today's equivalent of the legendary Mix Tape of the 80s. I took her shuffle, recorded an intro in mp3 and loaded it with mushy songs I thought she would like. Am I lame or what? Even worse, it snowed yesterday so she didn't listen to it on her drive in until today.
Good thing Ian and I snuck out and picked up new shoes for the gals in our house. Reagan got some cool sandals and Mel a pair of cool sneaks that she pointed out in Lucky Magazine to me. Yeah, I am that kind of thoughtful, sensitive man.
I even wrote a Haiku for her. I was in a haiku mood, I wrote one to make a friend smile so I thought I would do one for Mel as well. haiku's rock just as much now as they did back in 3rd grade.
Hope your Valentines Day was the commercial success the retail industry was hoping you would have...
On a side note, this is year two of me doing something for Mel on V-day and her doing well, not as much. Perhaps it is not me that thinks the holiday is a sham, it is her!
