Ah, I am covered with a combo of Marine Tex (a putty like thing for filling holes) and blue bottom paint (I am Salty Smurf). Gotta love this time of year. The Pear should go in the water this week. Doing all the things to prevent a relapse from last years fun:
- run aground
- Now have charts
- Rudder fell off
- This deserves a quick story: So there we are enjoying a fun sail up to our fav creek for some swimming and a break from the power boaters on the river making large waves that bounce me like a rubber duck in the bathtub... Anyhow, we are tacking back and forth going up river. In the middle of the river, boats zooming by both sides (there must have been a target on my back or somthing), the tiller feels "funny" in my hands... I realize it has come unconnected from the boat. The rudder controls our steering. So, now what? We let the sails flap while I lean over the back of the boat and try to re-moung the rudder (it hangs on pins). I find success and avoid disaster. Sweet.
- So I got new pins and non-rusting cotter pins, the cause of the above.
more comfy cushions. Over nighting was fun, but the zippers rotted out on the old cushions. A few run ins with the local scam cushion man and we've got em...
